Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Project Many followers and friends of CCRT participated in a community service project on January 18, 2021. The event honored Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a short program and viewers were asked to participate in a service project, to answer his call, "What are you doing for others?” We encouraged others in our community to recognize and celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy by performing random acts of kindness. After the zoom presentation and short prayer, we asked others to create homemade Valentine’s cards for 372 Pontiac seniors and individuals with disabilities who are enrolled in the Pontiac Meals on Wheels program. The cards were made starting on MLK day, 1/18/2021 until 2/18/2021.
RESULT OF EVENT: Love is in the air! “Dr. M.L.K., Jr. Service Project” was a heartfelt hit! “What are you doing for others?” Well, we know! We hoped to receive 372 cards from our viewers but RECEIVED, 863 BEAUTIFUL VALENTINE’S DAY CARDS!
Because of the outpouring love from all of you, we distributed cards to the Pontiac community at four locations, Pontiac Meals on Wheels, Grovecrest Supportive Care, Bowens Senior Citizens Center, Ruth Peterson Community Center (LaAmistad Senior Center) and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Pontiac Meals on Wheels individuals and Grovecrest seniors also received candy treat bags along with their valentine card. This years Valentine’s Day will be much brighter for 863 individuals!
Many to thank for performing random acts of kindness to the Pontiac community.
